From Baseball Legend to Manufacturing Pioneer

April 24, 1894: Born in Silver Creek, NY.
1914: Made his major league debut with the Buffalo Blues
1929: Howard Ehmke, a veteran pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics (now the Oakland Athletics), made history by striking out 13 Cubs in Game 1 of the World Series, leading his team to victory.
A year later, Ehmke proposed a groundbreaking idea: a canvas tarpaulin to protect baseball fields from rain.
With support from his manager, Ehmke opened Ehmke Manufacturing Co., Inc. in Philadelphia in1929, transforming a simple concept into a thriving business.
The company’s innovative spirit, rooted in its baseball legacy, continues today in the technical fabric industry.
